Gary Mentesana is employed by Hunt Investment Management and is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of MMA Capital Holdings. In addition to CEO, he is President and Chief Operating Officer of MMA Capital Holdings, positions he has held since 2018. He is responsible for strategic planning and the general management and oversight of the performance of the Company. Mr. Mentesana previously served as head of the Company’s US Operations Segment, head of its Affordable Housing Group, and as its Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Mentesana’s tenure with MMA Capital Holdings and its predecessors began in 1988. Prior to joining MMA Capital Holdings, he worked for Coopers and Lybrand and was a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Mentesana is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
Francis Gallagher was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in February 2012. Mr. Gallagher has extensive experience in corporate finance and investment banking. Mr. Gallagher is currently a Managing Partner at Charlesmead Advisors LLC, where he leads investment banking efforts to focused subsectors within the telecommunications industry, including wireline and wireless services and internet infrastructure. From 2005 to 2011, Mr. Gallagher was a Managing Director at Stifel Nicolaus Weisel, Incorporated, a leading investment bank, where he managed and led the Telecommunications Industry Banking Group. Prior to that, Mr. Gallagher spent eight years in a variety of positions with Legg Mason Wood Walker Incorporated, where he was responsible for investment banking services for a variety of large and small-capitalization telecommunications companies.
Frederick Puddester was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in August 2011. Mr. Puddester has more than 20 years’ experience in financial management and currently holds the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration for Williams College. Prior to joining Williams College, Mr. Puddester served at Johns Hopkins University, first as Executive Director of Budget and Financial Planning and then as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. In addition, Mr. Puddester spent two decades in Maryland state government, including four years as secretary of the Department of Budget and Management.
James Preston Grant was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in January 2013. He is the founder, President and CEO of Grant Capital Management, Inc., where he has specialized in providing tax-exempt financing to city and state governments since the company’s founding in 2000. Prior to that, he held positions in major account sales for IBM Corporation – Public Sector and Federal Data Corporation.
Michael Falcone was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in 1999. Mr. Falcone was the Chief Executive Officer of MMA Capital Holdings from 2005-2020. Mr. Falcone was employed by our external manager, Hunt Investment Management, from January 2018 until August 2020. Mr. Falcone provides experience in executive development, strategic planning, risk management and business development. Prior to his involvement with MMA Capital Holdings, Mr. Falcone served as Senior Vice President and Partner at The Shelter Group, a Baltimore based real estate development and property management firm where he began his career in 1983. Mr. Falcone is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Cecil Flamer has been a Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer of Brown Capital Management, Inc. (“BCM”), a private company that provides equity investment management services, since 2004. In his capacity as Managing Director, he serves on the Management Committee, which is the firm’s governing body. Prior to joining BCM, Mr. Flamer was a partner at Ernst & Young, LLP. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting concentration) from Morgan State University. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Chris Hunt was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in June 2018. serves as CEO of Hunt Companies, Inc. and its affiliated companies. The Hunt Companies include a variety of complementary business lines, including investment management, mortgage lending, property management, military housing, construction services, real estate owner and operator, asset developer, broker dealer, and global public infrastructure developer. Mr. Hunt is responsible for strategic mergers and acquisitions and establishing relationships with development and finance partners. Mr. Hunt began his career at Hunt in 1993 as a Project Developer for Hunt’s construction division and was later appointed Vice President and Executive Vice President. In 2001 he became a member of the Hunt Companies, Inc. Board of Directors and thereafter became President, COO, and then CEO of Hunt Development Group. In January 2015 Mr. Hunt was named as CEO of Hunt Companies, Inc. Mr. Hunt graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance.
Lisa Kay was appointed as a director of MMA Capital Holdings in August 2016. Ms. Kay has extensive experience in accounting policy and operations, investor relations, governance and public company reporting and disclosures. Ms. Kay is currently an independent consultant and business advisor focusing on accounting and public company matters, with emphasis on the finance and real estate sectors. Starting in 2007, Ms. Kay served as MMA’s Corporate Controller and subsequently served as our Chief Financial Officer from 2011 to 2015. Prior to joining MMA, she was a Managing Director at Navigant Consulting and held various positions at Freddie Mac and Arthur Andersen.
Suzanne Kucera is Chief Financial Officer of Bright Power, Inc., a New York based energy efficiency company with national operations. Prior to Bright Power, she was Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mackworth Capital, LLC which developed a unique model for direct private investment and provided strategic and financial advice to growth companies and start-ups. Prior to founding Mackworth in 2015, Ms. Kucera was Chief Financial Officer of Now Computing and BBH Group and Chief Executive Officer of Art + Commerce. She has a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Kucera most recently completed a Diploma in Clean Energy from New York University leading to an interim Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer position where financing options were secured for a Solar Developer.
Dave Bjarnason is employed by Hunt Investment Management and is Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of MMA Capital Holdings, a position he has held since 2015. Mr. Bjarnason joined the Company from Fannie Mae, where he was a finance officer and served in senior management roles in Fannie Mae’s accounting policy, external reporting and financial planning and analysis functions. Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Bjarnason served in senior finance, consulting and financial statement audit roles with JPMorgan Chase & Co., CapitalSource, Inc., Freddie Mac, Deloitte LLP and KPMG LLP. Mr. Bjarnason is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
